So why do men, or more precisely Tush Push Johnny (Ref post Guys and Dolls in December), think that a Chinese buffet restaurant is adequate substitute for proper good Chinese which requires a reservation?
Don't get me wrong - I love buffet restaurants for lunch time value - but they are no substitute for the real deal you were promised for a first date.
On first dates guys remember:
1. Deliver what you promise
2. Buffet = cheap (especially when - like I did in this instance - the girl offers to pay half)
One word - outraged. That's all.

Do you think that maybe, because you guys have seen eachother before, that he viewed this as friends getting together?? Or was it specifically a date???
As far as I have known, men suck at dating. Seriously. The only good dates I had, are the ones I planned, HOW SAD FOR THE MEN OF THE WORLD!!???!!??!!??!!??
Romantically,
I understand where you are coming from? Men as well as women are either unable, or unwilling to define exactly what they are looking for? An exmaple of that, I am currently seeing a guy, that on the first date said I am only looking to have have fun, and If something happens, thats cool. Well now, he is switching the rules, and is like now I want more...

I get what you are saying, I totally do, but let me let you in on a secret: Most (and I have said most here so if you are the exception to the rule dear male reader, don't get on my case)men don't tend to think that way. The biggest problem my husband to be and I have is that we speak two completely different languages. I speak woman, he speaks man! I say: Let's go out to dinner! He thinks: Mmmm, local Indian take away! I say: Fine! He thinks: Hey she's wok with it... And when I complain about the fact that he "never" (complete exaggeration, of course" gives me what I really want, his reply is: Why don't you ask for it?...
So I guess my point is:
Unless the guy is really, really wanting to make an impression and does his homework (or he is really horny and will do anything to get laid) men are simply men and have to be pointed in the right direction every once in a while (like all the time). Communication is the key! If you ask for a romantic dinner in a decent sit down restaurant you will either get it or you will find out that he is in fact a cheapskate!
Hope that didn't come across too cynical... :-)
